USA WWII Heavy Weapons

Worked on some USA machine gun and mortar troops.  Figs are Battlehonors 25's.  I sure could do with a game of FUBAR!  the troops are ready to go.

Cornfields

In anticipation of non-remote wargaming, I'm working on some terrain features for the tabletop.  These two shots show fences I made along with a cornfield.  The corn stalks are 2"  O scale corn stalks are from JTT, trimmed just a little bit and pushed into drill holes in MDF.  The JTT stalks are priced around $12 for either 28 or 32 (can't remember) so that's not too bad.  Minis are 28mm for scale.

A Rabble of Rebels

This time something for me . . . more 25mm Confederates.  Minis from Sash and Saber.  Twelve stands total plus some dismounted cav.

28mm ACW Confederates

Latest batch of 40 Sash and Saber Confederates coming off the painting table and ready for basing.

I've been looking at ACW rules to use with the new figs.  Fire and Fury Regimental would work well, as would On To Richmond!  OTR is slightly simpler than FnF and may resolve multi-division battles quicker.  Looking forward to giving it a try with the new figs in 2020.

More Vehicles for Jim

Painting up some modern MRAP vehicles for Jim and an M5 Stuart.  Supposedly these vehicles are both 25/28mm size.  The MRAP trucks are huge (think tractor trailer rig) but the Stuart may be a little undersized.  Dunno, need to see them side by side!

And here are some finish shots of the vehicles plus some NVA infantry.  I included a 25mm Soviet mini from Eureka as a reference to size.  The MRAP is a beast, no wonder it has a ladder for climbing in.

28mm ACW USVA Figs

Painted and based more 28mm ACW figs.  US Volunteers this time.  Figs by Sash and Saber, Flags by Flag Dude.

Lady Sculpts from Bad Squiddo Miniatures

Figure on the left is a herbalist gathering her plants, center is an archer, and right is blind old crone waving an eye-ball.  28mm sculpts from Bad Squiddo Games.  Nice sculpts.

More Dark Ages Guys

So here are some Viking archers . . .

And here are some Saxon Thegns

Not sure why I needed more Dark Ages figs but what the hell.  These are Foundry castings and quite enjoyable to paint. Time for some more Blood Eagle!

28mm American Civil War Minis

Started a new collection of 28mm ACW figures.  First purchase was Yankee and Rebel skirmishers from Sash and Saber

Figures are mounted 3 to a 40mm wide by 30mm deep base.  This basing will be suitable for Fire n Fury or any number of other rules.

I've based 28mm figs individually before but this is the first time mounting multiple figures on a base, so I decided to spend some time with the bases.  The bases are covered with "scenery mortar," a powder that is mixed with water and spread on the base and pushed up around the figure bases.  The scenery mortar seems to be a powder mix of fine sawdust and glue that binds all together with the added water.  Model railroader use this stuff a lot and for me it is easier to work with than spackle compound from the hardware store.  Added some ballast and rocks to the wet mortar.

Anyway, after the mortar dries, about 8 hours, I brushed it with Earth Undercoat (Woodland Scenics product) mixed with water and white glue to add color to the mortar and some more binding to the ballast and rocks.  When that dried I then added the tall grass and static grass followed by dry brushing of the base.  Viola.

Next I'm doing the Yankees.

A Few Items Completed . . .

First up is a sample of Artizan 28's of US WWII Infantry in greatcoats.  Two squads worth of infantry plus MG and Bazooka support are ready to go.

Next are a couple of units I finished for my growing 15mm Medieval Lithuanians.  Medium cavalry and the Commander-in-Chief stand.  Minis are Essex.

Barbarians at the Gates . . . And Drunk . . . Again

This is the Viking Drinking Party from Foundry Figures.  Pretty sweet sculpts but then again Foundry are among the best if not the top.

Eureka WWII Soviet Infantry

Really nice 28mm Figures from Eureka's new line of Soviet WWII Infantry.  I like how these turned out.
